SCOPE Quarterly Reports

Each quarter, SCOPE publishes reports designed to give businesses a clear understanding of current market conditions in the shooting sports industry. These reports highlight distributor shipment trends, providing actionable insights that help manufacturers, distributors, and retailers plan with confidence. The two report options differ in depth of analysis and access level, ensuring members can engage with the data that best fits their needs.

  • Overview Report – A high-level snapshot of key national trends, available free to all NASGW members.
  • Detail Report – A deeper dive into regional distribution, product-level segmentation, and expanded analysis, available exclusively to SCOPE subscribers (and purchasable by NASGW members who are not yet subscribed).

What is SCOPE?
SCOPE is NASGW’s data platform that collects, standardizes, and analyzes industry sales and inventory information from distributors and retailers to provide actionable insights for the shooting sports industry.

What are the main components of SCOPE?
SCOPE has two core components:

  • DLX (Distributor-Level Data Exchange): Shipment and inventory data from NASGW distributor members.
  • CLX (Retail Point-of-Sale Data Exchange): Point-of-sale data collected from retailers and dealers.

Who can access SCOPE data?
SCOPE data is available to NASGW members who subscribe to the platform. Subscribers are also able to utilize the API for a direct data feed into their own business analytics tools. Certain reports, such as the Overview Report, are complimentary for all NASGW members.

How does SCOPE ensure data accuracy?
SCOPE uses automated data feeds, industry-standard formatting, and strict integrity processes to ensure neutrality and accuracy across all reporting.

What product categories are included in SCOPE reporting?
SCOPE DLX currently includes firearms, ammunition, and optics, while SCOPE CLX currently only includes firearms. The SCOPE development team is actively building out additional product categories for both platforms with anticipated delivery of select categories beginning in 2026. 

How is my company’s data used in SCOPE?
Retail data in SCOPE CLX is anonymized and aggregated before inclusion in SCOPE, ensuring confidentiality.
